Challenge

John Deere publishes hundreds of technical manuals a week. This process requires many applications, from composition to consumer distribution via the bookstore.  Some of these applications, mainly Workfront and the publisher, required the same product data to populate the bookstore; however, these applications did not communicate, facilitating the need for dual entry.

Solution

We worked towards a solution in cooperation with the Workfront team at Deere. Together, we determined we could extract the data from a Workfront report into the publisher. This process kicked off the automated bookstore publishing process. The Ken Cook Co. team worked with John Deere to implement the publisher requirements, into the Workfront forms, to ensure proper data extraction.

Results

We receive a Workfront output report daily. This report’s data is scanned by our system and pulled into the publisher. Through automation, our system grabs the publications from Deere’s servers and brings them into our bookstore with all relevant data. As a result, what was once a manual process that took many individuals' involvement is now seamless, saving countless hours of redundancies.
